What is cash-based physical therapy?
Cash-Based, or “fee for service” physical therapy is a physical therapy model centered around the patient and their particular needs, without the complete constraint of a third-party payer (insurance company). This practice model allows the therapist more freedom in terms of treatment to help clients. Viewed as “out of network” by insurance companies, therapists are able to treat the client using their full knowledge base to achieve goals without visit, modality, or treatment restrictions often placed by third-party payers. While initially it may seem like a heavy expense up front, clients are able to receive reimbursement from their individual insurance company to help cover the cost of treatment. Each client is given a “superbill” which reflects the treatments provided by the therapist for the insurance company, which are then submitted by the client for reimbursement. As a result, clients are able to receive reimbursement for services provided by our skilled therapists, for approximately the amount of a copay (actual amount will vary depending on insurance carrier). Ultimately, being a cash-based practice allows us here at In Motion Physical Therapy to provide you with the highest quality care possible based on your specific needs without being tied to restrictions from a third-party payer that may delay or inhibit your recovery.
